Osun State Politics: APC's Descent into Desperation and Deceit to Tarnish and Discredit Senator Oyewunmi's Reputation and Victory

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State needs to move on from their defeat in the 2022 gubernatorial election and the 2023 national election. Instead of dwelling on their loss, they should focus on rebuilding and re-strategizing. However, the party's chairman recently made a baseless claim that Senator Lere Oyewunmi confessed to attempting to buy votes in the 2023 election. This is a clear misrepresentation of facts and a desperate attempt to tarnish the senator's reputation.

Despite the cashless policy implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the APC claims that Senator Oyewunmi used cash to buy votes. This is a blatant lie, as the Senator has always been an advocate for a cashless economy. The APC's desperation is evident in their attempt to discredit Senator Oyewunmi's victory, which was achieved through his popularity and the trust of the electorate. We should all remember that his election into the Red Chamber came at a time the cashless policy was at its peak. Without any cash inducement, our lovable Senator won with landslide and since assuming office he has continue to justify why he was elected among other contestants. APC and their supporters can please take a work round Senator Oyewunmi constituency and see the numerous impact of the God chosen Lere. Even within the shortest period, APC representatives that were privilege to be before him couldn't matched his already achievable landmark and I am very sure that can't not even in their wildest imagination.

Senator Oyewunmi is a respected politician known for his integrity and transparency. He would not engage in such unethical tactics as vote-buying. The APC is trying to malign his reputation with manipulated evidence, which is a common tactic employed by the party. The video in question was doctored to suit their purposes, as they desperately seek sympathy from voters.

The APC's loss of a strong member to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Senatorial District has dealt a significant blow to the party. They are now resorting to false claims and conjuring disjointed video footage to back up their allegations. This is a clear indication of their desperation and frustration.

The money in question was allegedly rejected by voters, yet Senator Oyewunmi won the election. This contradicts the APC's claims and exposes their lies. International observers, the EFCC, and other agencies monitored the election, and none reported any vote-buying incidents. The APC's failure to provide credible evidence to support their claims further weakens their argument.

The APC's failure in Osun State is due to their own underperformance while in government. They failed to deliver on their promises, and their mismanagement of the state's resources led to widespread discontent among the electorate. The current administration is correcting their mistakes, which is giving the APC headaches. Instead of resorting to false claims and propaganda, the APC should engage in constructive criticism and play a meaningful opposition role. This will help them rebuild and regain the trust of the electorate.
