This significant day in our national calendar symbolizes our collective commitment to the principles of freedom, justice, democratic governance, and the enduring spirit of the Nigerian people. Democracy Day, a shift from the usual May 29, is now observed on June 12, a date etched deeply in our history. It commemorates the historic events of 1993, when millions of Nigerians cast their votes in what was deemed one of the freest and fairest elections in our country's history. Though the results were annulled, the spirit of June 12 remains a powerful reminder of our enduring legacy and quest for a government that truly represents the will of the people.
