Prayer of Gratitude and Divine Guidance for Osun State’s Newly Elected Local Government Chairmen and Councilors... Let us pray. 🙏 Heavenly Father, I, along with many like-minded individuals, come before You with hearts full of appreciation and gratitude for the successful completion of the February 22 Local Government Elections in Osun State. We thank You for Your grace, protection, and the smooth organization and execution of this grassroots-oriented democratic process by the appropriate authorities, particularly the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) under the leadership of Barr. Abioye Hashim. We are grateful for the leadership of the Osun State administration under Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, who ensured the necessary constitutional structures were in place to guarantee free, fair, and globally recognized local government elections. LG Crisis: Egbetokun Planning To Assassinate Gov Adeleke – PDP Alleges The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun  State has alleged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of planning to assassinate the governor of the state, Senator Ademola Adeleke. The PDP said the IGP’s deliberate deployment of Special Forces to escort the sacked APC chairmen into local government secretariats on Wednesday morning was a coup and disobedience to the order of the state governor. The party warned Egbetokun not to be a tool in the hands of the opposition All Progressives Congress in their desperation to get rid of Adeleke. The PDP chairman in Osun, Sunday Bisi, made the allegations while addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Osogbo, on Wednesday. Bisi said what was playing out in the state was an attempt by the IGP and the APC to prevent the local government election slated for Saturday, February 22, from holding. He, however, said the party and the people of the state would not s...

The Action Peoples Party's Judgement is a judgement in Rem which binds on everyone in the State --- Osun Attorney General, Jimi- Bada In the wake of the widely publicized and extensively debated judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, concerning the dismissed local government chairmen and councilors in Osun State, it is imperative to provide a precise and well-articulated clarification. The High Court had previously nullified their election, citing egregious irregularities and a brazen disregard for the meticulously established electoral guidelines set forth by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC). Given the latest judicial pronouncement, I earnestly appeal for calm and restraint, as no explicit court order has been issued to impede or obstruct the seamless conduct of the forthcoming local government election. To offer a comprehensive background, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had initially instituted legal proceedings, vehemently challenging the ...

NO CONSEQUENTIAL ORDER RESTRAINING THE CONDUCT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION By:- Oluwaseun Olamiposi Arewa.  Following the judgment of the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, which has been widely celebrated in the media regarding the sacked local government chairmen and councilors in Osun State, it is important to clarify certain details. The High Court had earlier nullified their election, citing irregularities and flagrant disobedience to electoral guidelines set by the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC). In response,  I wish to appeal for calm as no court order has been issued to stop the conduct of the forthcoming local government election. It is important to recall that the PDP had initially approached the court, challenging the conduct of the election on the grounds that OSIEC had failed to issue an official election notice. While the PDP's case was already in court, it sought an amendment to its suit, which was granted by the Federal High Cour...
